The Galway World Cup Fun Weekend is a two-day National Fun Soccer Tournament for young people between the ages of 14 years and 16 years. These young people are attending youth projects and services in various areas around Ireland, such as Neighbourhood Youth Projects, Youth Development Projects, Outreach Projects and relevant youth clubs. The tournament is organised by an inter-agency committee in Galway City. First held in 1999, the event has received great support and sponsorship form local and national agencies and businesses. Each year, over 320 young people from all over Ireland participate and the tournament receives great recognition from local and national media.

The aim of the Galway World Cup Fun Weekend is to provide an opportunity for young people to come together for a national fun weekend tournament promoting self esteem, teamwork, friendship, social, personal and educational skills, sportsmanship and to integrate with other people from around the country.
